Khor Virap monastery: Our trip we start from Khor Virap monastery, it is one of the amazing monasteries of Armenia, founded in4th century, it is located in Ararat plain, near border with Turkey. Khor Virap’s notability as a monastery and pilgrimage site is attributed to the fact that Gregory the Illuminator, was initially imprisoned here for 14 years by King Tiridates III of Armenia. Saint Gregory subsequently became the king’s religious mentor, and they led the proselytizing activity in the country.The monastery attracts a very large number of tourists and there are a number of souvenir kiosks here.
Areni: Continuing our trip we visit Areni cave complex. In 2010, it was announced that the earliest known shoe was found in the cave.In January 2011, the earliest known winery in the world was announced to have been found. Also in 2011, the discovery of a straw skirt dating to 3900 BC was reported. In 2009, the oldest brain was discovered.
You will visit the famous wine factory in Armenia – “Areni”. Here will be organized an excursion around the factory as well as wine tasting.
Noravank: At the end of the day we visit Noravank monastery, it is a 13th-century Armenian monastery, located 122 km from Yerevan in a narrow gorge made by the Amaghu River, near the city of Yeghegnadzor, Armenia. The gorge is known for its tall, sheer, brick-red cliffs, directly across from the monastery. The monastery is best known for its two-storey Surb Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God) church, which grants access to the second floor by way of a narrow stone-made staircase jutting out from the face of building.
